Jezner Changes

By Brian Moakley Feb 16, 2024

It’s hard to believe, but I have been running this website for the past twenty years. At one time it was a dedicated site for downloading old time radio shows.

Then, the it morphed into a type a mixture of daily blogging about a wide variety of topics while still serving radio shows. It took a small detour into audio book reviews and now it’s mostly a tutorial site with my occasional posts about

Yet, during this time, three things have always persisted. My love of science fiction. My love of horror. My love of writing. It’s time we meet in the middle.

Leviathan Wakes

Many many years ago, I was hungry to read a “haunted house in space” book. I searched through all the various forums and “best of lists”. I ultimately found Leviathan Wakes by James Comey.

I enjoyed the book tremendously, but it didn’t really scratch that itch. I wanted horror and I received space opera. That’s not meant to be derisive. I’ve read Leviathan Wakes three times so it does resonate with me.

I later gravitated to the Alien books. I love Alien but the books and movies are a true mix bag. Unfortunately, most of the time, I lose interest. You see, I love hard sci-fi, and most Alien books just skim the surface.

These days , the closest authors who hit my sweet spot are S.A. Barnes and Peter Clines. But I haven’t found my book, so I guess I’m going to have to write it.

The Future

Moving forward, this site will document my explorations into science-fiction horror. I’ll post my stories, my writer resources, and try to grow a community of like-minded people for sci-fi horror and my writing. That’s my pledge.

I can’t guess where I’ll be down the road. I can’t guess whether this site will even exist in another twenty years, but for the first time, this feels right. It feels true.

That said, I will aim to wrap up my Twine series and I will keep published for as long as I run this site. I will also keep dropping audiobook reviews, but moving forward, the site will focus on writing, and things that go bump in the night (in space).

Thanks for being part of the journey.
